Having the emotional volatility of a poet can be hell on the psyche. Too sensitive, and more sympathetic than need be. Ugh! Emotions have often ruled me that I lose sight of what is logical and true. So to find release for what is held back for propriety’s sake, I write poems. But don’t be surprised if you find them Gothic. I tend to lean to the dark side of my soul.
Rekindled Poetry
ANCIENT FIRE
I traverse …
… soft hillocks …
… gently curved mountains …
… the darkest forest …
… the smoothest plains.
Crystal-like dew glisten
upon the dermal crust
as lovers listen
to the beat of their hearts.
Like warriors of old,
we fought with passion…
Restless hands moved,
muscles strained with tension -
Under rainy skies
our bodies danced in
the ancient rhythm
as fire raged within.
It burned the forest …
It razed the soil …
It glowed in the aftermath …
It aroused …
the soul.
THE FIVE SENSES
I see your face above me
I see the tears fall on me
I see your smile enlighten me
I see you see me…
I hear your tender weeping
I hear you gently rocking
I hear your lips whispering
I hear you say my name…
I taste the fresh rain fallen…
I taste your soap on your skin
I taste the saltiness of tears
I taste your lips with dew…
I smell the flowers around us
I smell the fresh grass beneath
I smell you smelling like roses
I smell you scented with dozens…
I feel the coolness of rain
I feel the warmth of your touch
I feel the softness of your lips
I feel…
SA PAG-ABOT SANG AGA
Sa pagbutlak sang adlaw
akon ginapangita
ang gugma nga
hinali lang nadula.
Sa ingod ko sa kama
mainit-init pa
ang ginbilin mo
nga mga alaala.
Sa pagbangon ko
akon gilayon nakita
sulat mo nga gamay
sa may lamiseta.
"Paalam na, paalam na…"
imo ginsulat daw mga
tunok sa akon dughan
"Paalam na…"
Dugo kag luha
una nga gugma
Kasakit kag kainit
"Paalam na."
PHOBIA
Innocence in twilight
Madness near dawn
Comes a new morning
It's threat is gone.
TWILIGHT
I want to die in twilight
when the world is at a standstill,
when my eyes view everything
with perfect clarity,
the time before night falls
and the world goes downhill.
I want to die in twilight
when there are no shadows to hide
the breathtaking colors -
green, red, orange, yellow, and white -
ev’ry tone, ev’ry shade, ev’ry hue,
preserved in painstaking detail.
TOMBSTONES
venerations of time past
mysteriously seductive
windy whispers of
sepulchral secrets
lay underground
within catacombs
forbidden torches
hidden lusts
betrayals of blood
spilled hate
consuming passion
broken promises
white marble countenance
Promethean pose
features set
in eternal rest
guardians, monsters
trapped in sculpted
pose over
Death.
